The only time it isn’t creepy to hear the phrase, I’m calling from inside your house is when it’s your real estate agent. It’s that time of year again. The air is crisp, the pumpkin spice is flowing, and every shadow looks a little too much like a ghoul. We love the thrill of a good scare during the Halloween season—ghost stories, haunted houses, and, of course, the classic horror movie trope:
“I’m calling from inside your house.”
Chills.
Hearing that phrase is one of the most terrifying things imaginable. It’s a guaranteed adrenaline spike, signaling that something is deeply, awfully wrong.
Creepy…Unless It’s Your Realtor.
But let me let you in on a little secret: there is one, and only one, time when hearing that exact phrase is perfectly normal, even welcome.
That time is when it’s your friendly neighborhood real estate agent—that’s me!
When I’m hosting an open house or conducting a private showing, I am, quite literally, calling, texting, or emailing you “from inside your house.”
And here’s why that is a very good thing:
- We’re on the job: That call means I’m there working hard, highlighting your home’s best features to potential buyers.
- A buyer is interested: It often means a prospective buyer is asking a critical question, and I need an immediate answer on that new furnace, the paint color in the guest room, or why you chose that beautiful backsplash. Every call from inside your house is a step closer to a successful closing.
- We’re keeping it secure: After I’m done, I’m calling you from inside your house to confirm that all the lights are off, the doors are locked, and the house is secure. No ghosts allowed!
